Zandvoort was not always the popular Dutch seaside resort it is today, it originated as a fishing village, whose quaint charm has carried through to modern times. Visitors from all around Europe now flock to Zandvoort during the warmer months for long, lazy days of sunbathing and seaside fun. As a seaside resort catering to tourists, there is no shortage of things to do in Zandvoort. There are plenty of opportunities to go surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, kitesurfing and other water sports right on the water, while those not in the mood to get wet can bike the coast or hike along the dunes.

Along the entire coast at Zandvoort there is a sandy beach that stretches north to IJmuiden, and much further south. Along the boulevards there are beach pavilions on the beach that attract many day trippers. Well-known venues are Beach Club Tien, Mango’s, De Haven, Club Nautique and Vooges. Most of them are family businesses. Except for five built on concrete piles, they will be placed from 1 February and open to the public. The construction pavilions must be removed again before 1 November. The nudist beach starts two kilometers south of the village. There are five more pavilions here.

On the border with the municipality of Noordwijk, a three-kilometre-long beach reserve called Noordvoort was opened in 2019 between beach pole 70 and 73. It is located near the Natura 2000 area of Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen. Visitors are guided here over the foredune by a footpath.
