Vuelta A España 2022

The 2022 Vuelta a España was a three-week cycling race which was taking place in the Netherlands and Spain between 19 August and 11 September 2022. It was the 77th edition of the Vuelta a España and the third and final grand tour of the 2022 men’s road cycling season. The race started in Utrecht and finished in Madrid. In the third stage, the route briefly passed through Baarle-Hertog, in Belgium.

The start in Utrecht was actually planned for 2020, but was canceled that year due to the corona pandemic that broke out that year, with the result that events were banned that year until September 1, and was therefore moved to 2022.

23 teams participated in the Vuelta a España of 2022. All eighteen UCI WorldTeams were required to participate. Five UCI ProTeams also took part: Alpecin-Deceuninck and Arkéa-Samsic were automatically invited as the two best-performing ProTeams in 2021. The defending champion was Slovenian Primož Roglič.
