The oldest monument in Sliedrecht, the Reformed Great Church, has been protected by the Monuments Act since 1991. The church is a late eighteenth-century building, dating from 1763.
The tower has been owned by the municipality since 1855. The foundation dates from around the year 1000. The lower part is medieval. The upper part dates from 1825 (reconstruction).
The bell from 1604 was cast by Heynricus Meurs in Utrecht. The bell has a diameter of 91.3 cm. The first clockwork dates from 1751. The current one is electronic.
During a major restoration of the tower in 1953, a sarcophagus was found four metres below the foot of the dike. Its lid lies behind the Sliedrechts Museum. The sarcophagus with the skeleton has been transferred to the State University of Utrecht.
