De Betuwe, Bommelerwaard and the Land van Maas and Waal together form Rivierenland in the Netherlands. Each area has its own characteristics, respectively water, fruit and culture. The common factor is the rich history and beautiful nature. Throughout the region there are wide rivers in extensive floodplains, picturesque villages, meandering dikes and numerous fruit orchards.

In Rivierenland, the Betuwe occupies a special place: known for its white-pink blossom and Tiel fruit boss Flipje. A versatile area with cultural history, nostalgia, water recreation and lively events (such as the Fruitcorso and Appelpop). De Betuwe consists of the municipalities of Culemborg, Tiel, Buren, West Betuwe and Neder-Betuwe.

The Bommelerwaard is also called river island: surrounded by the Waal and the Maas, this beautiful area is characterized by legendary castles, historic churches and beautiful towns such as Zaltbommel and Rossum.
The residential areas in the Bommelerwaard are:
- On the Waal, from west to east: Brakel, Zuilichem, Nieuwaal, Gameren, Zaltbommel, Hurwenen and Rossum;
- On the Maas, from east to west: Alem, Kerkdriel, Hoenzadriel, Hedel, Ammerzoden and Well;
- On the Afgedamde Maas, from southeast to northwest: Wellseind, Nederhemert-Noord, Aalst and Poederoijen;
- Inland: Bruchem, Kerkwijk, Delwijnen (on the ridge of the Alm that was silted up before 1200) and Velddriel;
- On the island of Nederhemert: Nederhemert-ZuidRivierenland and Bern.
- Heerewaarden in the municipality of Maasdriel is also considered part of the Bommelerwaard if one sees the Driedijkenpunt as the eastern boundary, but falls outside it when the Canal of St. Andries is taken as the eastern boundary.

The Land van Maas en Waal is a fascinating area and is considered the most rural of Rivierenland: impressive dikes, relaxing walking and cycling routes and idyllic villages give the region a nostalgic character. The region comprises two municipalities: West Maas and Waal with the residential areas Alphen, Altforst, Appeltern, Beneden-Leeuwen, Boven-Leeuwen, Dreumel, Maasbommel and Wamel, as well as Druten, which in addition to the eponymous church village also Afferden, Deest, Horssen and Puiflijk includes.
