In 1880 he started sugar confectionery factories on Rodezand and Crooswijksekade, and in 1883 the first Jamin shop opened. When Cornelis Jamin died in 1907, there were 50 Jamin stores in and around Rotterdam. His grave and that of his wife can still be found at the Roman Catholic cemetery St. Laurentius in Rotterdam Crooswijk. The four sons of Cornelis Jamin, Cornelis jr., Louis, Pierre and Harry continue the business of their father. In 1918 the company had 100 stores. In the mid-1920s there were 135 store branches, ten years later the number had more than doubled to around 300. In the 1950s and 1960s the number of Jamin stores grew to over 600. The Jamin factory moved from Rotterdam to Oosterhout in 1957 .

The company ran into problems in the 1970s due to the fierce competition from the supermarkets, which obtained an increasing market share and where the formula consisted of self-service by the customer. The rigidity within the company by the management Eef Jamin, a son of Louis, also prevented further adaptation to the changing market. After his retirement, the appointment of a new president did not follow until 1981. This could not prevent the losses from continuing to increase. A radical restructuring, in which 200 stores were sold, could no longer prevent Jamin from going bankrupt in 1985. The company name C. Jamin was sold for the symbolic amount of one guilder. Shops and factories were split and continued separately. About a third of the staff were dismissed. Under the name Jamin, the stores continued or previously closed stores returned. After several takeovers and radical reorganisations in the 1980s, a new store formula was introduced: the Verwenwinkel (1988) with a lot of self-serve sweets, liquorice and biscuits and pre-packaged confectionery, but also the purchase of products, which was previously prohibited. the range. Ahold became owner in 1993 and in 2015 these shares were placed with Take Share Holding BV. Soulmates Holding B.V. is at the head of this group.
