10 Tips for Taking Better Photographs during Your Holiday.

It’s almost time for your yearly holiday again, and especially for you, we created a list of photography tips:

  • Research where you are going and check out on google maps, Google images or Flickr, the places you want to photograph, for the best vantage points. For example, if you travel to Paris, make sure you look up the best places to take your pictures from the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and so on.
  • Make sure the battery from your camera, or smartphone is always loaded each day, when you take a trip to a place, or several places you want to photograph.
  • Try to get up early, so you can avoid large crowds around the places you want to photograph. Especially if it’s a famous landmark. And make sure you wear good walking shoes if you plan a day of photographing.

  • Work the shot, so if you want to take a picture of some landmark, house, building or statue for example, walk around it, and look for a good angle to take the shot. This way you can get rid of bad backgrounds and get a good shot.

  • When you walk on a city street to take pictures, always make sure you look behind you now and then, because it might surprise you what you will miss to photograph, if you don’t.
  • Same as number 5, but besides looking behind you, also don’t forget to look in side streets or alleys. Those can give you some amazing shots!

  • If you want to take a picture from your loved one with some landmark, make sure he or she does not block the landmark! So keep him or her to the side of it and make sure both are in focus. Also make sure the landmark is the main object of the image.
  • Try to take contrasting shots, like a red bike against a white wall or something like that. Or a white wall with a blue door in it.

  • Frame your subjects. So use a gate as a frame for your image for example, or a door, or a window.

  • Last but not least. Be creative! Enjoy yourself while taking photographs, and try out things you hadn’t thought of before, while taking the picture.
